Emma G Potteree, based in Oxford, North Canterbury, spent 14 years as a local bookshop owner and operator before pursuing her passion for hand-built pottery—without a wheel in sight. Her work is very organic and primarily sculptural in shape. No two pieces are ever the same, even if she tries, and that's what Emma loves most about this craft—each piece is entirely unique.

Over the last few years, her work has evolved into what it is today, with many of her creations made using the coiling method, shaped and sculpted over days or even weeks until the clay "speaks" and declares, "this is it." In 2024, Emma was honored to receive two awards for her work: the Jurors Merit Award at the Arts Canterbury Juried Arts Show in February and a Category Award for Best Ceramics at the Kaiapoi Art Expo in Jul
